FMCSA’s Technology Division, in partnership with the Department’s ITS Joint Program Office, has initiated a project with a team that includes Noblis, a not-for-profit technical organization, the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), the American Trucking Associations (ATA), ATA’s Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC), and the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) Foundation, to educate and promote the safety benefits of driver assistance technologies such as automatic emergency braking for trucking fleets and to measure the impact of the outreach campaign in terms of ADAS adoption rates and truck crash reduction.
Noblis is the prime contractor. ATRI and ATA serve as the primary liaison with the trucking industry for this project and play active roles in project outreach, and OOIDA Foundation serves as liaisons to the owner-operator community. VTTI provides technical support and data analysis. Global-5 will produce project videos, and KAI serves a technical advisor.
